Welcome to Oakwood Collegiate Institute’s Library. For 100 years, the Oakwood library has been helping students and staff discover a love of reading. In 1972, the library moved from its small second-floor space to its present home across from the history department on the first floor. Oakwood Library continues to honour its past and connection to the community with its new museum. The museum houses many treasures from Oakwood’s past, such as yearbooks, photographs from long ago and a time capsule from the Roaring Twenties. Come in and have a look! Our library maintains the tradition of stocking the shelves with fiction and non-fiction titles, including popular bestsellers and the classics. La Salle Française (in the back corner, near the study carrels) contains many French books for both projects and pleasure. We subscribe to over 30 magazines and the Toronto Star. Leaf through a magazine or immerse yourself in a book in our reading area. Study quietly in the carrels in the reference area. Work on your assignment or connect to the Internet in our computer lab. Best of all, the two teacher-librarians offer help in all subject areas, whether you are hunting for a favourite book or trying to figure out an algebraic equation. |
