The goal of the Ministry of Education is to have 85 percent of students graduating by 2010. This is a worthy goal, and to ensure its success, we have put in place the Student Success Plan. This plan emphasizes early identification of students at risk in grades 7 and 8, with accompanying interventions. This process makes the transition from grade 8 to 9 more comfortable, with definite connections between the secondary schools and the feeder schools. The support continues through grade 9, through credit rescue and credit recovery.

In a broader sense, the focus of the initiative is to ensure that we continue to strengthen the path between the school and the community. We will continue to promote student success by both improving achievement levels as well as preparing our students to take on a productive role in Canadian society.
