Boys Athletic Assoication
BAA (Boys Athletic Association) is an athletic club that host sports intramurals and organizes sport-related events, such as 2-Ball and 3-Ball. We also fundraise to support the Athletic Banquet. The Athletic Banquet is a formal dinner with an awards ceremony each June to honour our great Bloor Athletes.
Chess Club
Chess Club- A club where students are welcome to come every Tuesday afterschool to play chess. We also have the members of the chess club participate in chess tournaments against other schools in the TDSB.
Eco-Team
The eco-team plans and executes initiatives to make our school more environmentally friendly. Bloor C.I. holds ‘Silver Status’ in the TDSB due to the hard work of this club, and the dedication of all staff and students to support the eco-team. Each year there are plantings both in the school garden and in the surrounding community by these students.
Empowered Student Partnership
ESP (Empowered Student Partnership) is a group of people who partner with the Police in 14 Division to help create a safe, social environment in the school. Students also challenge the 14 Division officers in an assortment of sports, and fun activities. ESP members may attend TDSB wide leadership camps and participate in city-wide events.
Girls Athletic Association
GAA (Girls Athletic Association) – is an athletic club that hosts sport intramurals and sport-related events (such as 2-Ball, 3-Ball, etc.). We also fundraise to support the Athletic Banquet. BAA and GAA work together to create school wide events such as The Battle of the Niners which is held each fall.
Guitar Club
This is a wonderful opportunity for all students who enjoy playing the guitar and those who want to learn. Beginner and experienced guitarists play together, so students at all levels can improve their skills and rock out.
Prom Committee
This dedicated group of people are responsible for planning and organizing a successful prom. The Prom is the magnificent highlight of the end of high school for Bloor graduates and their guests. There is also a Semi-Formal event open to all students in the winter.
Scribble
This club produces a beautiful book of student and staff literature each year.
Social Justice Committee
This is an amazing opportunity for students who want to get involved to make a difference in the world. Students have the opportunity to attend conferences and participate in peaceful initiatives. Each year the Social Justice Committee organizes the Vow of Silence event at Bloor C.I. and raises funds for our sponsored school in Sierra Leone.
Student’s Council (SAC)
The Student’s Council at Bloor is very active in organizing events such as dances, Bloor’s famous Milk-Chug-A-Lug contest, assemblies, movie days, ping pong tournaments and many, many more events. SAC members also organize Bloor participation in national events such as the Terry Fox Run and Relay for Life.
Stage Crew
The Stage Crew is busy creating the perfect atmosphere of lights and sounds for all assemblies and shows at Bloor. Bloor has an extensive Music program and many wonderful assemblies.
GSA
The Gay Straight Alliance at Bloor CI includes students from across grades 9-12 working to raise awareness and understanding and put an end to homophobia throughout our school. We participate in yearly events including Spirit Day or the Day of Purple and the International Day of Pink as well as in gatherings such as the Unity Conference in the fall and Converge in the spring. The GSA welcomes students interested in learning more about the issues of equity and who want to help create and build a safer, stronger and inclusive school for every student.
Rock Climbing Club
This is the preliminary year of the Bloor Rock Climbing Club. The key objectives are to provide students the opportunity to participate in an activity that builds confidence; develops dedication and commitment; encourages a healthy, active lifestyle; and most importantly, to have fun and make new friends. The club meets after school and climbs at the indoor climbing gym, Joe Rockheads. Students are fully trained in climbing techniques and safety procedures. The club runs the entire school year.
The Bloor Business Club (the BIZ club) is primarily driven by student executives who decide which activities or events the club will do and helps to organize the members accordingly. Some current initiatives with the club include an investment challenge (stock market simulation), resume writing and interview skills workshops, and preparing for business contests/conferences in the spring. The club also works in partnerships with the LOFT program at the Christie-Ossington Neighbourhood Centre. Many students each year participate in the BizAcademy, a business training program, run by LOFT and SalesForce.com, over the March Break. Students have described this week of business training as "amazing", "challenging" and "rewarding".
