The purpose of the school council is to help improve student achievement and to enhance the accountability of the education system to parents. School councils are advisory organizations. A school council's primary means of achieving its purpose is by making recommendations to the principal of the school and the school board.
The TDSB and principals are responsible for considering the recommendations made by each school council and for advising the council(s) of the actions taken in response to recommendations. The education and well being of our children is a priority for us all. A strong school council that cooperatively works with the school and the school board will serve this end.
Briarcrest Junior School has an active School Council that meets monthly. Parents regularly volunteer in the library, classrooms, on excursions, and as tutors. The School Council fundraising initiatives support school and community activities and events such as Spring Fun Fair, Scientists in the Schools, School Yard Revitalization Project, and excursions. We are always looking for volunteers and appreciate all support.
Future School Council meetings are scheduled for 6:45 p.m. on:
April 19, 2010
June 14, 2010
To contact the School Council, drop a note into our mail slot in the school office.
