WHAT PARENTS SHOULD KNOW

The School Council meets on a regular basis. It is an advisory body of parents who work together to provide ideas and opinions to help the Principal make the school a better place for learning. Nominations will be made in September. All parents are encouraged to join. Meetings are usually held the first Monday of the month.

Please ensure the confidential student medical and health information form has been completed and returned to the school.  Students will be receiving these early in September.

Students under 18 must have a signed parent note to be released from school during the school hours. In the absence of a note a phone call will be made.

If a student is to be absent from school for the day please notify the school by phone. When returning from an illness, a note indicating the date of absence and the reason for absence should be shown to each teacher and submitted to the office. This will then be recorded as an excusable absence.

The school asks you do not contact the student by their cell phone during school hours. They can be reached through the school’s main office. Cell phones are not permitted in school.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Illness:
Students who become ill during the day must report to the Main Office. They may then be admitted to the Health Room and the parents will ee notified if necessary. No medication will be administered by any staff member. Students may leave only if they sign out with parental approval.

Medical:
For the safety of their children parents are obligated to complete and return the confidential medical and health information form giving full detail of any medical conditions. If a known medical condition exists, the parents are asked to advise the school at the beginning of the school year. Students who have a condition which could create a medical emergency are required to wear a medical alert necklace or bracelet and have emergency medication such as an epi pen with them at all times.

Changes of Address, Telephone, etc:
It is essential in the event of an emergency that we have updated records for contacting parents/guardians. The office must be informed immediately in writing of a change of address or telephone number taking effect during the school year.

Excursion:
All students are expected to participate in planned class excursions. Regular class work will continue for those not participating in excursions. Students will not be subject to academic penalty when on a planned school excursion, but they are still responsible for work missed. Students are expected to be excellent representatives of Cedarbrae on field trips and in our community.

Remediation Detentions:
Students must report to the teacher at the time specified. Detentions have priority over extra-curricular activities, meetings and after-school jobs.

Accidents:
Accidents of any nature must be reported to the supervising teacher or to the main office immediately. An accident report form must be completed.

Visitors:
Visits to school property are limited to authorized persons only. Parental visits are welcomed any time but must always start at the main office. Casual visits from friends or other relatives will not be permitted. All visitors to the school must start their visit at the office. Young children are not to be brought to school at any time.

Lost and Found:
Access to the Lost and Found booth may be arranged through the main office.
