Central Tech now offers 5 exciting 1 year
Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Programs

Once again this year Central Technical School is offering
5 one year OYAP programs in the following trade areas: Carpentry,
Plumbing, Cook, Electrical, and Auto Service/Truck and Coach. The
OYAP programs at Central Technical School are ideal as school-to-work
transition programs. Teachers who have a Certificate of Qualification
in both teaching and their skilled trade area deliver the instruction.
The programs deliver theoretical and practical instruction that
students need and employers want.
To qualify for these OYAP programs, students must:
• Be within 8 credits of graduation
• Have most of their compulsory credits
• Have a good attendance record and be less than 21 years
of age as of the first day of school.
Students are interviewed and, if accepted, enrolled in the program.
All of these programs include 550 hours of in-class instruction
where students earn up to 5 credits. (There is an additional opportunity
in all programs to earn an additional credit.) Then they are registered
as OYAP apprentices and begin a double credit Co-operative Education
work placement with licensed trades’ people.
Serious about Apprenticeship, so are we!
