Upcoming Events – May 2013

May 8 – Shortened Day (Early Dismissal 2:39 p.m.)

May 9 – School Concert Periods 5 and 6; more information to follow.

May 10 – Grade 7 and 8 students will be participating in an all day Junior Achievement activity at the school.  Community members from businesses in our area will helps students develop life skills such as budgeting, planning for future, etc.

May 13; 6:30 p.m. – School Council Meeting in the Don Valley library. 

May 15 – Gauss Math competition for all Grades 7 and 8 students.

May 21 – Ward 17 Meeting; 7:00-9:00 p.m.  Chaired by Trustee Manoogian

Spring Dance – May 2; Periods 5 and 6

Students will be enjoying a Spring Dance.  Cost is $3.  This is a fundraising event and proceeds will go towards supporting school initiatives and the North York Women’s Shelter.  A representative from the North York Women’s Shelter will be coming in on April 30, Period 2 to talk to our Grade 8 students about the support that they provide to families in need.

Business Marketing Project – April and May

During the months of April and May, students in the Business class are marketing a lunch.  Students may support these events if they wish by purchasing lunch at the school.  Any profits will go toward school initiatives and one global initiative (supporting a third world country with clean water).

Dental Screening for Grade 7 and 8 students – April 22 and 23, 2013

Public Health – Dental Services will be checking the teeth of our Grade 7 and 8 students on these two days.  You will be advised if any follow up is required.

 

February 15 and February 18 – NO SCHOOL

Parent/Student/Teacher interviews are being held on February 15 and, therefore, there is no regular school on that day.

February 18 is Family Day and, therfore, there is no school on that day.

Report Cards

Grade 7, 8, and 9 Report Cards will be going home on Monday, February 11, 2013.

Parent/Student/Teacher Interviews will be held on February 14 evening and February 15 morning.  Your child must arrange interviews with the specific teachers and attend with you.  An interview schedule form will be going home with the report cards.

School Council Meeting – January 28, 2013; 6:30 p.m.

Just a reminder that our School Council Meeting is scheduled for January 28 at 6:30 p.m. in the Library.  Key topics:  Edutravel and Grade 9 Independent Student Projects (ISPs).  You are welcomed to join us.

North York Harvest Food Bank

The North York Harvest Food Bank informed us that we donated 460 lbs. of food in December.    Our contribution in collaboration with many other schools and families allowed the distribution of 1.7 million pounds of food to be given to people in need.
