Donview Middle Health and Wellness Academy was featured on CBC's 5:00 News on Wednesday February 13th as a response to the student survey that was produced by the TDSB. This study found that mental wellness is a significant issue for TDSB students. Along with the TDSB's Mental Health Strategy, at Donview one of our Five Pillars is Mental Wellness, and we are using Yoga (among other things) to help students be successful in this area.

The article was on the front page of the life section.
Adolescent Anxiety and Depression is a major issue for many students these days and parents and teachers need to work together to identify the signs and symptoms that sign a student is in difficulty.
EMYS is a Children’s Mental Health agency servicing youth between the ages of 12-18. They have many different clinical counselling programs (intensive child and family services, priority access, day treatment and residential services) to support youth and their families.
They also have the “What’s Up” Walk-In Counselling Clinic. This clinic is barrier free and no appointment necessary. East Metro also runs newcomer programs and a drop-in program for youth. The website is www.emys.on.ca.
East Metro will be working with our Donview students and staff providing them with information on adolescent anxiety and depression and providing tips for maintaining good emotional and mental help. Come and hear from the experts how you can help your child through those “difficult” adolescent years!!!
