Downsview, it is a pleasure to announce your Student of the Week for October 3rd, 2011. Her name is Carly T. and she is in her final year here at Downsview.
Even if you think you don’t know Carly, you know Carly. She is one of the voices that rises a little earlier each day to bring you all the information you need to start your day. Carly’s nomination comes from Mr Wallace, her staff supervisor for Radio DSS. Here are his words: “Carly has demonstrated her leadership through her role as student coordinator of the radio Club. She has been diligent, reliable and professional in her leadership. She has also mentored students and teachers in making announcements. She has shown her poise in a time-sensitive, often pressured job. Carly has become a pillar in making our school an open and responsive community.”
Ms King, whose sees our Radio Club members daily, chimed in with these thoughts: “Carly’s bright, cheerful face starts off the day with positive energy. She focuses on the job at hand, and everything else seems unimportant.”
Most of us have heard the term “multi-tasking” before; this skill, the ability to handle different tasks simultaneously, is one that many of us wish we practiced better. Carly seems to multitask with ease, handling the on-the-spot pressures of last-minute announcements, new and nervous announcers and illegibly written text with friendliness and fluidity. In other words, Carly goes with the flow, and does so professionally.
Carly has been a helpful force in our school since she started here. A member of the Empowered Student Partnership Team in the past, and an all-round helpful person, Carly is an asset to our school. Congratulations once again go out to you, Carly, our very deserving Student of the Week.
