I would like to welcome you to Firgrove Public School.

Firgrove is extremely proud to be one of TDSB’s first Model Schools for Inner Cities. We are strongly committed to providing our students with innovative learning opportunities that relate to their diverse learning styles. Firgrove is also deeply embedded in collaborating with our highly active parent community on numerous initiatives that enrich student learning. In addition, we work closely with our local community organizations on creating a safe and friendly environment for both our students and families.

Firgrove is a large urban school serving Junior Kindergarten to Grade 5 children. We are located on the south side of Firgrove Crescent, just west of Jane Street and one block south of Finch. We have a student population of about 510 children. We are fortunate to have a diverse student population with a wide variety of different languages and cultures represented in our school community. Approximately 60% of our students speak a primary language other than English.

Our school is also home to the new Firgrove Satellite Childcare Centre and the Parenting and Literacy Centre which provide opportunities for both our students and parents in making a positive transition into the school system.

Among the various programs we offer, Firgrove Public School has an optional Montessori program at the Casa and Primary/Junior levels and a Reading Recovery Program. Our school has also introduced a school wide breakfast, snack and lunch program for our students.

We provide a secure, caring and nurturing learning environment "to enable all students to reach high levels of achievement and to acquire the knowledge skills and values they need to become responsible members of a democratic society." We know that children learn best when the school and parents work closely together to support each other and the learning of our students.
