Our Vision For A Model School Our school's vision of a Model Inner City School would be a school that is inward and outward looking. It is a school willing to make a commitment to expand programs and resources within the school, but also to look at how to interact with the community by bringing and sharing its resources. It will continue to nurture and strengthen existing relationships between the community and school and provide access to community agencies and resources that will improve students' abilities and strengthen parent capacity to support their children to be successful. It is a place where the school is not only an educational environment, but also a place where parents can have a variety of educational, social and medical needs met. An environment where financial and systemic barriers that might hinder relationships with surrounding communities are addressed (i.e., volunteers with limited income will have the cost of a police check waived, permit costs, etc.). It is a building where hours of operation will go well beyond the school day, and will adjust to meet the needs of the community. As a result, even higher numbers of volunteers and community members will become actively involved in the school and community. A Model School is the hub of the community where all community members feel they are safe and have a sense of belonging. It will house a host of individuals who believe that every child, every parent, every person has the right quality education and will succeed, given the time and support.
