Ward 7 Council
Schools in our ward (Ward 7) are invited to send a representative and an alternate to Ward 7 Councils, which are convened regularly by our trustee, Irene Atkinson, our elected representative on the Board. Present at these Council meetings are parent reps, principals, TDSB superintendents and other interested parties.

Our trustee represents the interests of Ward 7 schools in the decision-making processes of the TDSB, and so, at Ward 7 Council meetings, Trustee Atkinson seeks input concerning matters coming before the Board. Garden’s representative on this Council will bring the matter in question to the School Council Executive – and, where appropriate, to the school community through general meetings – for discussion and direction.

In the past, Ward 7 schools, through our trustee, have spoken out concerning budget decisions, school music programs, anti-bullying programs and many other important issues.

Parent Community Network
Representatives from each Ward Council and members of Community Liaison Groups are invited to attend meetings of the Parent Community Network, where information and issues of concern to parents across the TDSB are on the agenda.

Currently, our Ward 7 rep to the Parent Community Network is Garden Avenue P.S. parent Charene Gillies.

Working together with school administration and our dynamic trustee, we’re looking forward to another year of speaking out for the interests of Garden parents and students.
