Student Safety Concern
We continue to struggle with the car traffic during school entry and dismissal times. The school is located at the end of a traffic circle which provides
ONLY one access route to and from the school. We ask that parents follow our procedures for the safe “drop off” and “pick up” of students.
Please use the traffic loop at the front of our school for ALL drop offs and pick-ups! In the morning, adult supervisors will direct drivers to the far end of the traffic circle so that Peer Helpers can quickly and safely assist your children to exit your car. Please follow the directions of the adult supervisors as they must also keep the way clear for the buses that drop off our Storie Wing students. Our parking lot is for staff parking only. There is not enough room for parent vehicles to safely park to “drop off” or “pick up” students. There is a sign posted at the entrance to our parking lot that states
that the parking lot is CLOSED from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. At the lunch hour and at the end of the day, please arrange to meet your children in the traffic loop at the front of the school. If your child is kindergarten age, you will need to park your car in a legal parking area on Antrim Cres., and walk to meet your child at their exit door. We must work together to maintain a safe route for students to enter and exit the school.
School Council Pizza Lunch
The Glamorgan School Council held a VERY successful Pizza Lunch! The profit made from the pizza lunch was $1,143.00. Many thanks to the parents on the School Council Executive for organizing the event, and to the parent volunteers who assisted on Pizza Day! The next Pizza Lunch is planned for April 11th. Please look for the pizza order envelope which will
be sent home on March 21st.
Build Character Build Success
We have continued this year to highlight and teach each of the 10 positive character attributes selected by the Toronto District School Board.
Respect, Responsibility, Empathy, Kindness & Caring, Fairness, Perseverance, Honesty, Cooperation, Integrity, Teamwork
We also recognize students who demonstrate exemplary character traits at our monthly assemblies. Teachers nominate one or two students in their
classrooms each month who are excellent models of a particular character trait. Several older students have been trained to take photos of the students holding their award certificates and then to create a slideshow
of the photos which is shared with the whole school at our assemblies.
Student success is dependent on safe, caring and inclusive learning environments, where every student feels valued. Much of this starts with teaching our students about the value of character- respecting themselves and each other, and by making positive contributions to their school and community.
