OTHER STUDENT OBLIGATIONS

USE OF TELEPHONES IN THE SCHOOL
A telephone is available to students in the Thornton and Lucy Blackburn Common Room. Phones elsewhere in the school are not for student use. Students should not use the phone during their class time, and calls should be brief. Common courtesy and consideration for others ensures that the system works well for everyone.

AUDIO / VISUAL EQUIPMENT BORROWING POLICY
Students may borrow equipment for a course or Outreach related projects with the permission of the staff A/V coordinator. Equipment is available for overnight loan only and must be returned promptly. The borrower assumes full responsibility for the equipment.

DARKROOM SAFETY PROCEDURE
Normally students have access to the room only for work related to their courses or Outreach. Darkroom procedures are posted on the darkroom door and students are expected to follow all directions with care. Students who use the darkroom are responsible for cleaning up when finished.

LATE ASSIGNMENTS
Late assignments are subject to a penalty of 5% per school day to a maximum determined by the teacher together with the class. This is a general policy for all courses. Should the teacher be unavailable to receive the assignment, it is the student's responsibility to get it signed and dated by another staff member, and put into the appropriate mailbox. There may be exceptions to this policy in some courses and for some work. Discuss this with the teacher before the work is due.

TERMINAL DAYS
Work is assigned and accepted throughout the term. Each term has a designated Terminal Day, usually just before exams, by which all work must be completed and submitted.

ACADEMIC HONESTY
Academic dishonesty of any kind will not be tolerated. If a student is unsure about possible plagiarism in his/ her work, that student should speak to the teacher before submitting the work.

Students are expected to use proper reference form when preparing an Independent Study Project.

ACCESS TO PHOTOCOPIER
The photocopier is a fragile and essential piece of office equipment. For this reason, photocopy use is restricted to staff members only. Students may occasionally use the machine for independent study purposes, with the permission of the teacher of the course. Students may not use the photocopier for missed class notes or to copy assignments.
