Place of Worship

BUDDHISM

Rastafarians worship in churches and temples. In most Caribbean churches or temples women stayed on one side and the men stayed on the other. Some of the churches are made from the colours of the Ethiopian flag. Some churches have names such as the Rastafarian Gospel Church.

Christians go to a place called a church. A church is a large building with stain glass windows and red carpets. On top of the church there may be a cross. There may be statues of the Christian saints in the church.

HINDUISM

The Hindus holy book is called the Gita. Always wash your hands before touching the Gita. It is kept on a shelf.

We pray in a temple. If you have a temple of your own you can pray there. God is eveywhere. We pray in a mundir. It is giant and it’s made out of bricks.

Buddhists pray in their temples.

The place of worship is called Gurdwara. A Gurdwara is wide and tall. There are pictures of the Gurus around the walls. In the Gurdwara, a man or a woman reads the Guru Granth Sahib.

Taoists go to temples. They do not worship a God. The temples have tops over tops starting from big to small

Zoroastrians go to the temple to worship their God. There would be a fire burning and they would worhsip to that fire.
