Pearson Students Pitch In For Haiti Relief!

Students at Pearson are mobilizing to help the people of Haiti, who have suffered the most devastating earthquake to hit the Western hemisphere in 200 years. Do you want to get involved? Check out some of the great events and fundraisers that are coming up. Let's all pitch in and do our part!

BSA (Black Student Association) will be donating all proceeds from Black History Month bake sales and Iron Curtain sales to Haiti Relief.

PAC will be holding bake sales and intramurals tournaments.

SAC and PAC will be holding a $5 Raffle. Prizes include Sean Paul tickets, one semi formal ticket, Gatorade products, and a Reebok sports bag.

DECA will be holding a White Elephant Sale in the caf.

Prefects will be organizing a home form money drive and ribbon campaign.

AV Club will be hosting 25-cent song requests in the caf during lunch.

Free the Children will be donating all proceeds from Wednesday's Iron Curtain.

MSA will be holding a fundraising activity on Friday.

We invite the broader Pearson community to get involved too. The TDSB is supporting the Canadian Red Cross and Free the Children for Haiti relief efforts. The TDSB will be accepting donations on behalf of the two charities at each of its more than 590 schools and administrative centres for the relief efforts. As well, all schools and board sites will be lowering flags from Jan. 18 to 22 and observed a moment of silence on Jan. 18.

Message from the Lester B. Pearson CI Web Designers Club

Welcome back, Pearson! The return of the school year has brought about many changes, all for the betterment of us, the student body of LBP. The Web Designers Committee of LBP is one such change. Our aim is to create the most efficient, user-friendly, and informative website LBP has ever seen!

And how will we do that? Our industrious web programming team is comprised of reliable and excited students all ready to experiment with the LBP website. Add that to the excellent support of our teachers and there you have it! We are YOUR web designers, and it’s our aim to create YOUR LBP website.

Additionally, any student interested in joining this club is free to drop in at any of our meetings. (Mondays at lunch in Room 126.) Have no fear because no major prior knowledge of computers/web designing/programming is required. All we need are enthusiastic students with a passion for this task. Also, if you have any suggestions of what you want on your website, feel free to comment on our blog, drop in at our meetings, or just talk to anyone in the club.

The Web Designers Club asks that you bear with us as we feverishly work on updating the LBP website to better serve you, the school community.
