Students are expected to wear the Pearson Photo I.D. badge at all times while on school property. All I.D. badges must be worn around the neck and visible at all times. Students without an I.D. badge will NOT be admitted to class or allowed to attend school events. A Photo I.D. badge must be used for signing in and out of the Main Office and for borrowing of library books and equipment If students forget their Photo ID at home, they must come to the Office for a Temporary Card before going to class. Temporary cards are numbered and there is a different colour for each day of the week.

GENERAL INFORMATION
VISITORS: All visitors must report directly to the Main Office where they will be issued a Visitors’ Pass. Any visitor who fails to report to the main office is considered a trespasser. Students who are seen in the company of trespassers will face a temporary withdrawal or suspension. Visitors who want to come to the school to see students must see the Principal or a Vice-Principal. Generally, the visit will only be approved if the visitor has a specific purpose and makes the request in advance. Visitors will be issued a special I.D. pass. ATTENDANCE: You are expected to attend all classes. It is your responsibility to make up missed work. Poor attendance is the chief cause for failure in school. Make an effort to schedule appointments outside of school hours. If you are absent, have a parent or guardian call the school. If a parent does not call, we may contact your parent at home or work. Students should bring a dated, signed note upon return. SKIPS: If you have been absent and you do not provide a satisfactory explanation, or if you are at school and do not attend classes, you are skipping. You will be referred to the office and your parents will be notified. Persistent skipping will result in progression of consequences such as detentions, suspensions, and removal from the school. LATES: You are expected to be in class, ready to work, when class is scheduled to begin. If you are habitually late, consequences will include detentions, parental involvement and possible suspension. SIGN OUT: If you must leave the school before your daily timetable is finished, bring a note signed by a parent or guardian to the Main Office and see the receptionist to sign out before you leave. SIGN IN: If you arrive at school after your first class, you are considered to be absent for the day. You must sign in at the office when you arrive to correct the record. TUTORIAL PERIOD: Tutorial is every Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 9:55 a.m. to allow students the opportunity to receive assistance. Students are given this chance to learn to make wise choices in time management. EVALUATION AND REPORTING: Final grades in each course are calculated using tests, assignments, projects, class participation, teacher observation, and formal evaluations. Subject teachers will give each student an outline of the course evaluation policies and procedures at the start of the semester. Check the calendar for exam dates and report card dates. ANNOUNCEMENTS: If you wish to have an announcement read, submit a signed (Staff Advisor) announcement form to the office by 8:15 a.m. Announcements may be edited. During the announcements, students are expected to sit or stand still and listen quietly. FIRE ALARM: All students must leave the building by the prescribed routes when the fire alarm sounds. You must not go to your locker or to the washroom. Follow teachers’ directions promptly and quietly. Once outside the building, you must move away from the building. Setting a false alarm is a criminal offence, and violators may be charged by police and/or required to pay for the dispatch of fire personnel. CAFETERIA: The cafeteria is used for quiet study and for lunch. It is open before school and at lunch. We expect that our students will make an exceptional effort to keep their eating area clean. Please dispose of your garbage in the proper receptacles. Please recycle your pop cans and bottles. GAMBLING: Gambling related to any games, such as cards or dominoes, is strictly prohibited on school property. LOCKERS: Students will be assigned lockers. Use a DUDLEY lock to secure your locker. Your locker & lock combination must be registered with the office. Failure to do so may result in your lock being cut. In case of locker theft the school cannot take any responsibility for items stored in your locker or in unregistered lockers. Do not bring valuables to school. Keep your lock combination private. Do NOT share a locker with another student. PARKING: Students may park in the last 3 rows nearest the McLevin Road entrance. Students must obtain parking passes from the Main Office. The speed limit in the parking lot is 10 km/h. SMOKING: All school board property and buildings are "Smoke Free". Students who violate this Ontario law will be suspended and will be fined by City of Toronto Smoking Control Officer.

ACADEMIC HONESTY & CONSEQUENCES OF CHEATING The grades that students receive are intended to reflect their own academic achievement, effort and creativity. Copying or cheating is unacceptable behaviour. The following activities are considered to be cheating: a) copying any material from another student for evaluation purposes, with or without his/her knowledge. b) plagiarizing material i.e. handing in another person’s work as one’s own. c) copying material directly from a source without acknowledging the source. d) exchanging information or material during an evaluation.e) having unauthorized material such as notes, texts, calculators, or programmable calculators at one’s desk during evaluations. f) handing marked material in for remarking with material added which was not originally there.
Consequences: Cheating will not be tolerated. If you cheat, you will receive as a minimum penalty a mark of zero on the test, assignment or exam and you may be suspended from school. Further consequences such as loss of the credit, may result if the zero leads to a mark less than 50%.
