Malvern won a gold and two silvers in boys rugby 7s this season.
The bantam team, with many inexperienced players, demonstrated some great team skill in advancing to the championship game at Woodbine JHS. Unfortunately, the team was physically overmatched against Don Mills in the final and had to settle for silver. The success of the team bodes well for a bantam 15s season.
The juniors dominated their competition all season, not losing a game in any of their tournaments, and only giving up a couple of tries. They entered the TDSSAA championships as the number one seed and did not disappoint. In the final game, the Black Knights totally shut down RH King and took home the gold.
The senior squad surprised many by advancing to the TDSSAA final against Mowat. A nail biting overtime win over Oakwood paved the way to the gold medal game. Good ball handling and tenacious tackling were the trademarks of the team, but a strong Mowat side proved their undoing and a silver was the best we could muster.
Overall, a very successful sevens season with a healthy number of players and significant improvement in play.
