The beauty of this wealth is the harmony, which exists between students and staff. Our students are incredibly proud of their heritage and are encouraged to share cultural, Racial, linguistic and social experiences.</FONT></div> <bR> <div>    Before students can learn the curriculum that is required by the ministry, a self-confidence and acknowledgment of self worth must exist. At Maple Leaf, most students live in some form of poverty and have many hardships to face outside of school. Their reality is often memories of political violence in their homeland, child neglect and or/abandonment, and economic hardship. These challenges do not lower student achievement expectation. However, a special team of committed teachers with a high level of emotional intelligence, and a positive approach are required to provide a socially relevant, nourishing curriculum and environment.</div> <bR> <div>    The entire school is on the same bus, headed towards one united goal, which is the achievement of our students both academically and socially. Several visual strategies are used to demonstrate the approach.</div> <bR> <div> Maple Leaf Uniform Policy </div> <bR> <div>    Both parents & staff regard the uniform as a means of creating a distinct school identity. The wearing of the uniforms is intended to reduce competition in fashion, minimize clothing cost, and make our school yard and hallways safer with the identity of the uniform.
