AP Physics C The advanced placement Physics C course assists in preparing the student of physics or engineering for the university experience. The course content and workload is well in excess of the Grade 12 requirement. Only volunteers with solid academic credentials will be accepted. Parental consent is also required.
It is divided in three parts. Part 1 - Mechanics. Part 2 - Electricity and Magnetism and Part 3 Light and Matter Waves.
The course lectures occur during a school period, but due to the increased
content, all tests are held outside of class at 0730 on a mutually convenient
date. The four demanding lab experiments are also completed outside of class
time. Students have approximately a month to complete these and hand in what
is essentially a professional paper. The project in this course will always
involve construction and content based on most aspects of the course.
Due to the advanced curriculum, a grade adjustment scheme is in place. This
is a very demanding course with heavy use of advanced forms of calculus. Students
considering university programs in engineering or physical science will find
this experience very beneficial, not only from a content aspect, but also
in the learning of proper experimental technique and workload management.
