Welcome Wagon Committee
The Norseman Welcome Wagon is an initiative by Norseman parents and educators to help ease the anxieties a family may have about attending a new school or transitioning from one grade to another. We believe a close working relationship between parents and staff provides wonderful benefits for our children.  Both the school and community work closely together to develop resources that are necessary to create learning environments in which all learners are welcomed and respected. Our goal for Norseman is to be the best place to learn, make friends and have fun.

Welcome Wagon Family Events
During the 2011/2012 school year the Norseman school council will be sponsoring some family events. These events are free for the entire family. We encourage all families to come out and participate in an evening of family fun and activities. We start the year by helping to host the Welcome Back to Norseman night in September.  There will be a Family Games Night and Pumpkin Lighting on Friday October 28, 2011 6:30pm – 8:00pm, Movie Nights on Friday November 25, 2011 6:30 pm and Friday February 24, 2012 6:30 pm.  There will also be a Middle Survivor Night on Thursday March 22, 2012 6:30 - 8:00 pm. There will be a Welcome to Grade 6 evening in April to bring our incoming Sunnylea parents and Norseman parents together to learn about middle school.  Finally, the welcome wagon will help welcome the new junior kindergarten families on their visit day.

Primary Classmate Contact List
Often our children would like to invite classmates over for a play date; however, you may or may not know the parents or how to get in touch with them. This year, for those who are interested, each primary class will have a “classmate” contact sheet. This will be an optional list for parents and children to provide their information. The letter asking for your contact information will be sent home with your child mid October if you would like to participate.

We Could Use Your Help
Are you someone who enjoys meeting people? The welcome wagon team is always looking for new team members to help connect Norseman families. The welcome wagon will meet in the Norseman Library :

These meetings will be used to update our literature, plan events and discuss how we can bring together the school community.
