Testimonials from Spectrum Parents

The positive learning environment and atmosphere at Spectrum enabled two of my children to blossom, thrive and develop a love for learning.  The staff is creative, encouraging, facilitating, accommodating, knowledgeable, fun, energetic, enthusiastic and perceptive.  My children enjoyed attending Spectrum, have made new friends there, experienced many different opportunities and situations, and were just plain happy to be there!

Spectrum is a small alternative school that offers a nurturing environment for the adolescent learner.  The classes are provided with an enriched grade 7 and 8 programme, in which the Ontario Curriculum is expanded upon and the students are offered the opportunity to synthesize their knowledge.  I am thrilled that my son had the chance to attend this wonderful school and work with the support of this loving, encouraging, creative and intelligent staff.  He has simply blossomed!

Spectrum provides a caring environment for grades 7 and 8 when it is particularly important for pre-teens to feel that they count.  Spectrum provides a special relationship between the teachers and students due to it’s small size and this in turn makes each student feel special in a world that is becoming more and more dehumanized.

Our daughter had a seamless transition from grade 6 into spectrum Alternative.  Since her arrival she has enjoyed all of the staff and has a great deal of respect for them.  Her confidence and leadership have flourished in this wonderful environment.

... these are talented, dedicated and professional teachers who have set their expectations high ... creating an affirming and supportive learning environment

Each morning my daughter races out the door with an enthusiasm that takes my breath away, and returns at the end of the day with greetings such as, “I had the greatest day!”  Her confidence and joy reminds me of those early years when school was her favourite place and she couldn’t inhale the knowledge quickly enough.
